The Witches House and Hat: Halloween Props to Make
The theme for the classroom party at your daughter's school is witches and you get to do the decorating. They need a house and several witches hats and guess who gets the job of these Halloween props to make?
These Halloween props to make will not be difficult and your daughter will even enjoy helping you. You will only need a few inexpensive items and you will be all set.
When making witches hats you should buy some large sheets of black construction paper. You will be able to find a pattern online or at your library if you need one. Just cut out the hat and roll it together, fasten with clear tape and you are done. If you want decorations on the hat you can add them before or after you tape it together depending on which way will be more convenient.
Now for the witches house. You will need a large cardboard box, one that is big enough for a child or two. A stove box would be excellent. Turn the box over, open end down. Draw a door and windows on the box and cut them out. You may need a heavy-duty cutter for this part of the job.
Now it is time to paint the witches house. You can use tempera paint for this or regular wall paint. After the house is fully dry, the decorating fun begins. You can paint designs on the house, add cut-outs of spooky things, or drawings the kids have made. When you are finished and ready for the house to be used you can cover the top with tin foil and spread Halloween candy around so that each child will have a piece.
